Vedad Gencturk

Vedad Gencturk was born in 1949 in Asmaya, Turkey. He taught himself the oud while a teenager, and later went to Istanbul to study at the Conservatory. He studied under the great master of Turkish art music, Emin Ongan.

This is a collection of improvisations on a variety of Turkish makamlar. It is an analogue recording and features the renowned Turkish musician Vedad Gencturk on solo ud. The whole spectrum of Turkish classical makamlar is represented, and most of the improvisations are relatively short.
