Biography

Haytham Safia was born in the Arab town of Kafr Yasif in the Galilee region of Israel in 1980. He began to learn the oud from an early age, but it was not until 2001 that he gave his first performance, in the Netherlands. The following year he graduated from the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. He currently performs and records as part of the Haytham Safia Qu4rtet and the group No Blues, and in addition to his background in Arab music, his influences include Western classical music, Balkan music, blues and jazz.
